Kunamokst Mural

This is a detail from the Kunamokst Mural at the West Van Community Centre. The blue bear painting is by artist Kathy Holmes and the heron (one of my favourites) which is a fabric collage is by artist Cedar Bowers. This artist coincidentally lives near the heron colony in Stanley Park.

balloons



A few years ago, this beautiful balloon installation was in a back alley in Gastown.  It was wonderful to see the scale and grace of the objects as they were squeezed between buildings in the Downtown Eastside.

craftsman


I see this man every year at a small craft show that I attend.  His wonderful woodturned offerings using local woods are always the highlight of the show for me.  There are many wonderful craftspeople out there, quietly going about the business of making art - support them this Christmas.

Another Russian lacquer box featuring a common image of a troika.  Troika, meaning three of a kind, is also used to name a sled drawn by three horses.
